KOMOR, ANDRAS

KOMOR, ANDRAS
KOMOR, ANDRAS (1898–1944), Hungarian poet and author. Komor's verse collections, notably Allomás ("Station," 1925) and Jane and Johnny (1928), dealt with the self-doubting intellectual and were influenced by Claudel. His stories, such as Fischmann S. utódai ("The heirs of S. Fischmann," 1929) and A varázsló ("The Magician," 1927), dealt either with Jewish middle-class life or with the world of children. He committed suicide when threatened with deportation to a Nazi labor camp.
